Campus safety group recognizes WVU Police’s Roberts as ‘Chief of the Year’

Bob Roberts, chief of the West Virginia University Police, has been named national chief of the year by the National Association of Campus Safety Administrators. Roberts “is a proven leader with the ability to use logic and reason to solve today’s problems facing police in higher educational settings,” the association said in announcing the award in the “sworn officer” category.

West Virginia University Police Department up for reaccreditation Sept. 11

West Virginia University’s Police Department will be examined for reaccreditation by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement on September 11. The IACLEA will examine all aspects of University Police Department’s policy and procedures, management, operation and support services, Chief Bob Roberts announced today (Aug. 18).

West Virginia University ranked among safest college campuses

West Virginia University is among the top 40 safest campuses in the United States, according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security. Ranked 34th among 2,000 colleges assessed on campus safety, University Police protects more than 30,000 students and 6,000 employees.
