Through a wide-range of activities with organizations and groups of all ages, student-athletes performed more than 460 hours of community service Saturday (April 27) in WVU's first Student-Athlete Day of Service.

Wilson to retire after 26 years as associate provost for academic personnel

After more than 40 years at West Virginia University, Associate Provost for Academic Personnel C.B. Wilson plans to retire effective Sept. 1. Wilson began his tenure at WVU as chair and professor of Music in 1977 and took on progressive leadership roles in the College of Creative Arts, first as associate dean and later as interim dean of the College.

Grier, Cajuste among several Mountaineers on their way to the NFL

Quarterback Will Grier was chosen by the hometown Carolina Panthers with the 100th overall pick, and then Yodny Cajuste heard his name called one spot later when he was drafted by the New England Patriots. David Sills V has signed a rookie free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills. Wide receiver Gary Jennings Jr. and tight end Trevon Wesco went in succession with selections 120 and 121 of the fourth round to the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets respectively. Linebacker David Long Jr. was taken two rounds later when the Tennessee Titans drafted him with the 188th pick. Safety Dravon Askew-Henry signed with the hometown Pittsburgh Steelers, defensive tackle Kenny Bigelow Jr. inked a rookie free agent deal with the New Orleans Saints and Toyous Avery Jr. signed with the Seattle Seahawks, making it nine players from this year's WVU draft class now affiliated with NFL teams.

WVU research suggests conflicting drug laws may keep contaminated needles in circulation, contribute to hepatitis C infections

Acute hepatitis C infections rose 98 percent between 2010 and 2015 nationwide, largely because more people were injecting drugs. Using a new needle for every injection can slow the spread of hepatitis C, but getting those new needles isn’t always as simple as buying glucose-meter lancets at the pharmacy. And safely disposing of old needles presents a whole other set of problems.
