WVU to close July 5 for state holiday

West Virginia University, including WVU Institute of Technology, Potomac State College, Extension offices and WVU Research Corp., will close Friday (July 5) following a declaration issued by Gov. Jim Justice proclaiming a state holiday.

West Virginia University Police issued a Campus Warning following reports of two burglaries Tuesday (July 2) — one at 633 North Spruce St. in a University-owned building and a separate, unconnected, off-campus incident nearby.

WVU faculty member named Educator of the Year

Guy Hornsby, assistant professor for Coaching and Performance Science in the West Virginia University College of Applied Human Sciences, has been named Educator of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Hornsby was one of seven recipients of the organization’s 2024 Peer Awards recognizing professionals for outstanding achievements in the field.
