West Virginia University Thursday (May 21) issued a statement on the establishment of a coalition that urges fraternities to separate from university governance.

Two West Virginia University students will work for solutions to world problems and provide education opportunities to refugees as Boren Scholars in Oman and Jordan— two countries identified as critical to U.S. interests. Both 2020 recipients, Adam Craig, of Wheeling and Myya Helm, of West Union, are students in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, and have completed the Honors Foundations program.

The WVU Foundation is leading the coordinated fundraising effort, which aims to unite Mountaineer Nation in support of a stronger WVU. All funds raised will offset the pandemic’s devastating economic impact on current and prospective WVU students and their families to ensure as many students as possible achieve their higher education dreams.

Carolyn Eberly Blaney, a loyal West Virginia University alumna who carried on a longstanding family tradition of philanthropy, passed away Friday (May 8) at the age of 96.
