Positive case of COVID-19 confirmed at WVU residence hall

West Virginia University was notified Sunday afternoon (April 12) by the Monongalia County Health Department that a resident in one of its residence halls tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19. WVU is working with MCHD and West Virginia’s state public health officials to ensure the health and safety of all residents and employees who have recently been working in the Evansdale Residential Complex, more commonly referred to as Towers.

WVU students testing positive for COVID-19 confirmed

The Monongalia County Health Department and West Virginia University were notified Wednesday (April 8) that more than a dozen WVU students have tested positive for novel coronavirus COVID-19. Although investigations and contact tracing are ongoing, it is believed 14 students returned to private, off-campus residences upon returning to Morgantown. As a reminder, WVU campuses have been closed and access to buildings has been unavailable since March 20, with limited exceptions. There is no indication that the students have been on campus.

WVU addiction studies expert addresses the effects of social distancing on individuals in recovery

Frankie Tack, clinical assistant professor and addiction studies minor coordinator at the West Virginia University College of Education and Human Services says that among the key tools for individuals in recovery, especially those in the early stages of the journey, are forming connections and establishing community. These tools are difficult to employ during a pandemic.

WVU Medicine Urgent Care offering video visits

To help lessen the spread of COVID-19, all WVU Medicine Urgent Care locations are now offering virtual video visits at no cost for adults and children ages 5 and up.

March 29 Mountain Stage performance at the WVU Creative Arts Center has been canceled

The Mountain Stage performance scheduled for March 29, at the WVU Creative Arts Center has been canceled due to the suspension of in-person classes and events on the WVU campus. WVU Athletics events suspended through March 22

West Virginia University Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons announced today that the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will suspend all upcoming athletic events through March 22.
