WVU Athletics events suspended through March 22

West Virginia University Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons announced today that the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will suspend all upcoming athletic events through March 22.

Riggs, Bragg elected WVU Student Government Association leaders

The campaign for West Virginia University Student Government Association leadership ended Wednesday evening (March 11) as the SGA Judicial Court announced Chase Riggs and Jaron Bragg as president and vice president, respectively, for the 2020-21 academic year.

WVU to temporarily suspend in-person classes after spring break, move to online model

West Virginia University will temporarily suspend in-person classes the week following spring break then offer online class instruction or other alternative learning options beginning March 30 as it continues to monitor the threat of novel coronavirus. All other online-only classes will continue as originally scheduled.

Glover named WVU’s 67th Mountaineer mascot

Sophomore Honors College student Colson Glover has fulfilled his lifelong dream to serve West Virginia University and the people of his home state as the Mountaineer mascot. The Lewisburg native was announced as the 67th Mountaineer today (March 7) at the men’s basketball game vs. Baylor.

WVU shares lessons learned, expands ‘Would You?’ campaign with free educational toolkit to end hazing, increase bystander awareness

West Virginia University's "Would You?" safety campaign is expanding with a free toolkit which includes graphic templates, access to the documentary “Breathe, Nolan, Breathe,” as well as discussion strategies to facilitate honest, open dialogue about hazing, bystander intervention and amnesty laws. Ultimately, the hope is that the lessons learned on the WVU campus can be used by colleges, universities, and high schools nationwide to save lives.

UPDATE: Two suspects arrested after off-campus Morgantown shooting resulting in one injury

Morgantown Police have arrested two suspects, 29-year-old Edward Kolleh and 20-year-old Ethan Horseman. One person was injured in an off-campus shooting incident Saturday, Feb. 29. The victim’s condition is unavailable at this time. The Morgantown Police Department is the lead investigating agency, and University Police is assisting. WVU will continue to provide updates as it receives new information from Morgantown Police.
