In-person classes with a start time prior to 10 a.m. are canceled on West Virginia University’s Morgantown campus Friday, Feb. 4, due to anticipated inclement weather and worsening road conditions. Online classes are not affected.
The remainder of the University began normal operations at 9 a.m. The PRT and WVU's ADA vans started operations at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Line plans a normal schedule; however, WVU students and employees should call ahead before venturing out to ensure locations and services are open as conditions may change or services may be limited. For example, the Monongalia County Health Department has canceled COVID-19 community testing tomorrow at the WVU Rec Center.
Students should report to classes beginning at 10 a.m. or later. Tests and assignments due prior to 10 a.m. Friday will be due at the next class period.
WVU Health Sciences faculty, staff and students who are working in patient care areas or in clinical rotations should check with their dean, program director or clinic manager.
Employees and students should use good judgment when traveling in inclement weather. Additional information about weather emergencies is available from University Police at safety.wvu.edu.
If students cannot get to class because of adverse weather or road conditions, they should contact their instructors as soon as possible. If faculty are unable to get to class, they are also asked to notify their students as soon as possible so that students do not embark on unnecessary travel.
Supervisors are asked to be flexible and understanding with staff members to accommodate childcare and potentially hazardous road conditions.
University officials will continue to closely monitor reports from the National Weather Service, as well as state, local and campus conditions to provide additional updates if necessary.
Updates will be provided through a variety of outlets, including WVU Alert system, MIX email and students.wvu.edu, MOUNTAINEER E-News, email and enews.wvu.edu. Social media accounts such as @WVUsafety on Twitter and the WVU Safety and Wellness Facebook will also share updates.

WVU Tech and Potomac State College will make decisions for their respective campuses based on local conditions.
WVU Extension will follow its internal inclement weather policy, which can be found on the Extension Employee Resources site.
A Community Notice is part of WVU’s three-tiered emergency notification system used to enhance student and employee safety and provide useful information to the community.
