WVU receives grant to support youth entrepreneurship in low-income and rural communities

Through a nearly $50,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization Initiative, a team from WVU Extension Service, WVU Chambers College of Business & Economics, Morris L. Hayhurst LaunchLab, and the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative is developing a strategic plan to encourage and support youth entrepreneurship in West Virginia.

All roads point to WVU: Visitors invited to participate in activities at State Fair

For many West Virginians and others across the nation, it’s likely a West Virginia country road connected them to West Virginia University. Whether it’s a 4-H’er who participated in livestock, STEM or camping activities or a graduate of one of WVU’s three campuses, the State Fair of West Virginia has a unique way of bringing mountaineers together to celebrate their state.

WVU to fully reopen campuses for fall 2021 semester

With recent decreases in COVID-19 cases across the country and the knowledge that COVID-19 vaccines are extremely safe and effective, West Virginia University now plans to fully reopen its campuses this fall.

Calhoun County kids get free fruits and vegetables this summer at participating stores

This summer, kids in Calhoun County will have a chance to “shop” for local produce at select stores throughout the community — for free. The new Kids Market @ The Store is open to any child ages 4 to 17 in Calhoun County, thanks to a partnership between the West Virginia University Extension Service Family Nutrition Program, the Sisters Health Foundation and local farmers.

WVU Extension’s award-winning summer reading program receives $1.2 million award

West Virginia Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin recently announced that West Virginia University Extension Service’s Energy Express program has been awarded more than $1.2 million to support literacy programs for West Virginia youths beginning in summer 2022. The award will continue through 2024 ($1.2 million each year for three years).
