Country roads bring WVU, 4-H’ers to the Capitol for legislative day

To celebrate the reach of WVU’s academic programs, research and outreach efforts, WVU and WVU Extension will host WVU Day at the Legislature Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Capitol rotunda. The event also will feature a special drone demonstration presented by teens participating in the 4-H Tech Changemakers program from noon to 1 p.m.

Community Notice: WVU to monitor weather conditions, plans normal operations

West Virginia University will monitor conditions as predicted inclement weather moves into the Morgantown area Thursday and Friday, Jan. 6-7. The University currently plans normal operations; however, WVU students and employees should call ahead before venturing out to ensure locations and services are open as conditions may change or services may be limited.

WVU, WVPEC, W Va. Dept. of Education launch program to make learning STEAM-TACular, bolster lifelong skills

To help students build confidence and gain lifelong skills like critical thinking and problem solving, West Virginia University, the West Virginia Department of Education and the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative have launched a new Technical Assistance Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. The new STEAM TAC is currently open to all West Virginia public schools serving sixth through eighth grade students throughout 2022 and aims to expand the program to all students in grades six through twelve in years to come.

WVU receives grant to support youth entrepreneurship in low-income and rural communities

Through a nearly $50,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization Initiative, a team from WVU Extension Service, WVU Chambers College of Business & Economics, Morris L. Hayhurst LaunchLab, and the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative is developing a strategic plan to encourage and support youth entrepreneurship in West Virginia.

All roads point to WVU: Visitors invited to participate in activities at State Fair

For many West Virginians and others across the nation, it’s likely a West Virginia country road connected them to West Virginia University. Whether it’s a 4-H’er who participated in livestock, STEM or camping activities or a graduate of one of WVU’s three campuses, the State Fair of West Virginia has a unique way of bringing mountaineers together to celebrate their state.
