Eleven West Virginia University faculty members have been awarded research grants from the Office of the Provost as part of the 2017-2018 Big 12 Faculty Fellowship Program.

West Virginia University’s associate dean of Libraries, Karen Diaz, has been appointed interim dean of Libraries effective July 31. Diaz steps into the role following the departure of Dean Jon Cawthorne, who left for a position at Wayne State University.

The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation recently awarded five grants to West Virginia University, through the WVU Foundation, totaling $540,000. The grants will benefit various programs and initiatives at WVU and across the state.

The West Virginia University Center for Excellence in STEM Education is one of three state-level organizations to receive grants of $15,000 from the STEMx™ network. These inaugural awards are intended to help states develop solutions to pressing science, technology, engineering and mathematics education issues.

West Virginia University has released its graduation honors for the spring 2017 semester. A total of 4,177 students graduated from the University in May.

West Virginia University’s Dean of Libraries, Jon Cawthorne, has been appointed the dean of libraries and head of the library school at Wayne State University in Detroit effective July 31.

Dr. Paul Kreider, current dean of West Virginia University’s College of Creative Arts, has been appointed associate provost for undergraduate education, effective July 1.

West Virginia University will award four Honorary Doctoral Degrees and one Presidential Honorary Doctoral Degree this May, recognizing individuals who enriched our world through their talents, their passion and their commitment to giving back.

Following West Virginia University's involvement in transition planning for incoming Gov. Jim Justice, a multi-disciplinary group at the university has continued to look at ways government can be made more efficient, and not incidentally, less expensive.

Eight students from a variety of backgrounds have been honored with the Order of Augusta, West Virginia University’s most prestigious student honor. They are among 44 students who have been named WVU Foundation’s Outstanding Seniors.
