Historic baseball season ends in NCAA Regional Final

The West Virginia University baseball team fought until the end, but it was not enough as WVU’s season came to a close with a 12-8 loss at No. 13 Wake Forest on Sunday night in the 2017 NCAA Tournament Winston-Salem Regional Final. The Mountaineers finish the year with a 36-26 record after advancing to their 12th NCAA Tournament in program history and first since 1996.

WVU alumni give back to their alma mater, support equine program

The Roberta and William Gellner Equine Endowment will advance the mission and goals of the equine program, which is housed within the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, with discretionary funds to support scholarships, research and other opportunities.

Professionals focus on West Virginia health

More than 100 health professionals from across West Virginia gathered today (June 1) in Buckhannon to share information on community approaches to the state’s health issues. The Try This for Health Professionals day was held at West Virginia Wesleyan College, one day ahead of the fourth annual Try This West Virginia conference that will take place Friday and Saturday.

WVU Foundation honors philanthropists

The West Virginia University Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2017 Outstanding Philanthropy awards. This year’s recipients are Verl and Sandra Purdy, Milan Puskar Outstanding Philanthropists; Jack Rossi, Outstanding Volunteer Philanthropist; the Bernard McDonough Foundation, Hazel Ruby McQuain Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation; and Dominion Energy, Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation.

Anjali Halabe named WVU's associate vice president of finance

Anjali Halabe, a long-time financial administrator at West Virginia University, has been named associate vice president for finance, effective July 1. Halabe, currently assistant vice president for finance, replaces Dan Durbin, who accepted an appointment at the University of Louisville.
