WVU fraternity cleared of hazing allegation, sanctioned for other violations

A thorough investigation has cleared a West Virginia University fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, of hazing allegations but revealed other violations resulting in separate sanctions. The fraternity has entered an agreed resolution with the University to end its interim suspension related to the hazing inquiry. However, the chapter will be placed on deferred suspension through February 2023 and lose some social privileges through June 2023.

WVU Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative celebrates new trail openings

Three miles make up the first phase of the West Run Woods Trail System which represents the beginning of a larger WVU trail initiative designed to improve health opportunities for community members, attract and retain talent, enhance quality of life and increase tourism. It's one of several cycling projects underway in Monongalia County.

WVU releases annual Clery Act report

The return to more normal campus operations at West Virginia University following COVID-19 restrictions in the previous year is reflected in the latest Clery Act report, showing increased crime reporting for 2021 in many categories.

Gee offers welcome for start of inaugural WVU Week of Purpose

To mark the beginning of the first Week of Purpose at West Virginia University, a week designed to deliver inspiring speakers, showcase University resources, offer diverse perspectives and introduce student success tools, President Gordon Gee sent a letter to the University community.

WVU plans bell-ringing ceremony to remember students

West Virginia University will hold a bell-ringing ceremony, coordinated by the Office of Campus and Community Life and Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity, on Friday (Sept. 23) in remembrance of Joseph Harim, Robert Hopper, Kristen Kief and Cade Milburn.

Community Notice: Off-campus WVU student tests positive for monkeypox

A West Virginia University student tested positive for monkeypox on Wednesday (Sept. 7). The patient, who resides off-campus, has been seen by health care providers, and is currently isolating and recovering. WVU Medicine Student Health will continue to monitor the case.

WVU awarded IDEAS grant to help more underserved students study abroad

A joint project between West Virginia University’s Office of Global Affairs and Eberly College of Arts and Sciences aims to increase the number of WVU students from diverse and underserved backgrounds studying abroad. A poll found these students are particularly interested in study abroad opportunities, but concerns about cost, language barriers and course schedules keep many from participating.
