As West Virginia University and its students face unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mountaineer Nation is invited to show its support Wednesday, March 3, to mark WVU’s fourth Day of Giving.

West Virginia University Director of Athletics Shane Lyons has added another chairmanship to his impressive resume of accomplishments. He was recently appointed chair of the NCAA Division I Council, which is responsible for the day-to-day decision making for the entire organization. It consists of athletics directors, athletics administrators, senior woman administrators, faculty athletics representatives and student-athletes.

West Virginia University alumnus George R. Farmer Jr. was a successful attorney who devoted his career to carrying on the giving tradition of one of West Virginia’s most celebrated benefactors. In doing so, he helped transform his alma mater and the Morgantown community through impactful philanthropic giving that will be remembered long beyond his passing Monday, at the age of 92.

The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, in conjunction with University, local and state officials, has extended the time period for no fans at all home indoor athletic events through Jan. 24.

Senior Austin Kendall came off the bench to throw two second-half touchdown passes to lead West Virginia to a 24-21 come-from behind victory over Army in the 2020 AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee.

The AutoZone Liberty Bowl has announced that Army-West Point will replace Tennessee as the opponent for West Virginia in the 62nd game at Liberty Bowl Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 31 at 4 p.m., ET. Tennessee was unable to fulfill its commitment to play in the game when it paused all football activities.

Not only do West Virginia University’s newest graduates have much to celebrate in a year that defied traditions and norms, as they enter the next phase of their lives, they are drawing strength from being tested and are instilled with the most critical skills for succeeding in the 21st century: adaptability, resilience and purpose.

Don't think for a minute West Virginia University director of athletics Shane Lyons doesn't appreciate the value of recruiting. He understands all too well that recruiting is the lifeblood of any successful athletic program, and that's one of the big reasons why he unveiled the Climbing Higher campaign in the summer of 2018. Now, a little more than two years later, Mountaineer football is beginning to reap the benefits of what's taking place over in what has basically become a rebuilt Milan Puskar Center.

Due to a surge of positive Covid-19 cases and contact tracing within the football program, West Virginia University Director of Athletics Shane Lyons and WVU's medical officials have paused all football activities, including workouts and games, for the next seven days.

A $2 million gift from the Hayhurst family will strengthen West Virginia University’s entrepreneurship network and support a new facility at Reynolds Hall, the future home of the Chambers College of Business and Economics, to foster student innovation through collaboration.
