Potomac State tuition lowered to open the way for free community college

Tuition for Potomac State College for the upcoming academic year was cut $418 Tuesday as the West Virginia University Board of Governors adjusted the cost to open the way for in-state students to be eligible for free community college benefits adopted by the state Legislature.

WVU board approves new policies governing ethics, identity theft and tobacco

The West Virginia University Board of Governors today (Feb. 8) gave final approval to a trio of updated policies, and also sent out for comment the latest updated rule as it works to complete policy revisions in the wake of the adoption of laws permitting more independence from the state Higher Education Policy Commission. The three rules, unanimously approved, deal with conflicts of interest, outside consulting and ethics; identify theft detection and prevention; and a tobacco-free campus.

Board of Governors proposes tightening of tobacco-free campus policy

A clarification and tightening of West Virginia University’s tobacco-free campus rules was approved for comment Friday by the Board of Governors. The move is part of an ongoing revision of University governance stemming from the state Legislature’s adoption last year of laws permitting more independence from the state Higher Education Policy Commission.

Second annual Day of Giving brings in more than $6 million for WVU

Supporters of West Virginia University donated more than $6 million Wednesday (Nov. 14) during the University’s second annual Day of Giving, more than doubling last year’s total. It was promoted as “One Day to Give Back” and donors responded making 3,001 gifts during the 24-hour online giving event totaling over $6.2 million.
