West Virginia University today (Dec. 7) issued a statement regarding the actions undertaken by student workers at WWVU.

David M. Fryson, currently West Virginia University’s vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, will assume a new role as senior advisor to President Gordon Gee for diversity community outreach, as part of a phased retirement.

The grant was made through the WVU Foundation and will be used to continue research funding on topics like blockchain technology, and population health data management, which attempts to investigate and alleviate the health problems that ail the state.

Steve Riffon, a retired U.S. Air Force captain, has been appointed the interim director of the Office of Veterans Affairs at West Virginia University, effective Nov. 1.

West Virginia University students who want to lighten their regular term class load, or just get a few credits ahead, will be able to do so under a new winter term approved unanimously by the Board of Governors Friday (Oct. 27).

More than 80 business and enrollment officers from around the Big 12 athletic conference will be on the campus of West Virginia University beginning Sunday for their annual three-day meeting.

West Virginia University has released the 2017 December Commencement schedule. August and December graduates will celebrate their achievements at the WVU Coliseum on December 15, 2017 with two separate ceremonies.

The West Virginia University system began classes Wednesday with record numbers of first-time freshmen enrollment – 6,224 across its three campuses in Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser. The incoming class also features higher test scores and an increase in international students.

Narvel G. Weese Jr. on Tuesday (June 27) announced his retirement from West Virginia University effective Oct. 1, culminating a 37-year career in financial management at the university, the last dozen as vice president of administration and finance.

Anjali Halabe, a long-time financial administrator at West Virginia University, has been named associate vice president for finance, effective July 1. Halabe, currently assistant vice president for finance, replaces Dan Durbin, who accepted an appointment at the University of Louisville.
