West Virginia University launched a new public dashboard today (Aug. 3) to track and compile COVID-19 information collected during testing across the WVU System.

West Virginia University students will have a phased return to the Morgantown campus that includes a later class start date (Aug. 26) and hybrid or online delivery for upper division undergraduate courses, President Gordon Gee announced in a letter to the WVU community today (July 27).

West Virginia University Dean of Students Corey Farris outlined in a letter to the campus community Tuesday (June 23) plans for a return to campus in the fall designed to create a safe and meaningful experience for all students.

West Virginia University junior Charde De Lestre lost three part-time jobs and fell nearly three months behind on her rent after classes moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, she’s been able to continue her studies thanks to generous private donations that are providing emergency aid for students in need.

All employees identified for temporary furlough were notified on Friday morning (May 8). The temporary furlough will be effective on May 24, and impacted employees will return to work on either June 28 or July 26, depending on operational needs. Employees on temporary furlough will continue their benefits during the temporary furlough period.

Envisioning a return of students to its three campuses in the fall, the West Virginia University Board of Governors announced Friday (May 1) that base tuition and fees will remain unchanged for the academic year beginning in August.

West Virginia University will temporarily suspend in-person classes the week following spring break then offer online class instruction or other alternative learning options beginning March 30 as it continues to monitor the threat of novel coronavirus. All other online-only classes will continue as originally scheduled.
