Four new WVU faculty members will participate in the Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Academy Faculty fellows program.
The IDEA Fellows recently returned from the Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators at Babson College in Massachusetts, where they received extensive training on how to effectively teach entrepreneurship in their coursework. Using the knowledge and skills they learned at Babson, each IDEA Fellow will either create a new course or modify an existing one for the coming academic year. WVU’s faculty members were selected by the Office of the Provost through a rigorous application process open to faculty in all disciplines on WVU divisional campuses at WVU Tech and Potomac State College. As a cohort, the Fellows will work for the next two years to champion entrepreneurship and innovation across the University.
The IDEA Fellows for 2018-2019 are:
· Andrea Kent, Political Science, WVU Tech
· Amy Weaver, Business Management Technology and Computer Information Systems, Potomac State College
· Keri Whitacre, Psychology, Potomac State College
· Adrienne E. Williams, Biology, WVU Tech
Assistant Vice President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mindy Walls, who oversees the IDEA Faculty Fellows program, is excited to continue efforts to embed the culture of entrepreneurship across the University.
“All four of our new Fellows have dynamic ideas to engage students with innovation, design and entrepreneurship,” said Walls. “The courses they offer will help shape the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders. We hope to show students in all majors that embracing creative thinking and problem-solving leads to tremendous opportunities.”
The IDEA Fellows program is part of the WVU IDEA Ecosystem, a university-wide network of centers, offices and programs that fosters and supports innovation and entrepreneurship among WVU students, faculty and staff while engaging the statewide community.
