WVU to close July 3 for state holiday

West Virginia University, including WVU Institute of Technology, WVU Potomac State CollegeWVU Extension offices and WVU Research Corporation, will close Thursday (July 3) following an announcement from Gov. Patrick Morrisey extending the Independence Day holiday weekend for state employees.

The University was already scheduled to be closed Friday (July 4) for the holiday.

The July 3 closure will be effective for personnel beginning at midnight through 11:59 p.m.

While undergraduate and graduate classes will be canceled on July 3, some essential campus services will remain open.

Certain employees will be contacted by their supervisor with additional information regarding a holiday work schedule to support ongoing campus services. Additional questions from employees should be directed to supervisors.

WVU Health Sciences faculty, staff and students who are working in patient care areas or in clinical rotations should check with their dean, program director or clinic manager.

All in-person campus tours will continue as scheduled on July 3.

WVU Extension will provide separate guidance for summer activities.

The University will reopen on a normal operating schedule Saturday (July 5).
