WHAT: The West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering will host the Mountaineer VEX Robotics Competition for the third year in a row.
VEX draws student teams from across the East Coast to design and build a robot and compete in an elimination-style skills match. Winning teams will have the opportunity to advance to the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas, from April 25 to May 3.
WHO: Over 80 middle, high school and university-level teams
WHEN: Feb. 21-23
• Friday, Feb. 21: University competition, noon to 8 p.m.
• Saturday, Feb. 22: High school competition, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sunday, Feb. 23: Middle school competition, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: WVU Student Recreation Center, 2001 Rec Center Drive, Morgantown

8 a.m. — Doors open, inspection begins
9 a.m. — Qualification matches, judging begins
Noon — Lunch
1 p.m. — Qualification matches resume
3 p.m. — Alliance selection
3:15 p.m. — Elimination tournament begins
4 p.m. — Closing ceremony and awards
