Point Pleasant is the next community to receive help from WVU's BrandJRNY (WVU Photo)
WHAT: West Virginia University Reed College of Media’s BrandJRNY will launch a new brand for Point Pleasant, including a logo, slogan, promotional materials and creative and advertising plans.
WHO: Point Pleasant Mayor Brian Billings, Chairperson of the Point Pleasant Branding Committee Leigh Ann Shepard, representatives from BrandJRNY
WHEN: Tuesday, March 3, 6 p.m. (doors open), 6:15 - 6:40 p.m. (opening speakers), 6:45 - 8 p.m. (videos, interactive stations and prize drawings)
WHERE: Mason County Board of Education Board Room, 1 Education Lane, Point Pleasant
NOTES: Point Pleasant and surrounding Mason County residents are encouraged to attend this free event. The first 100 attendees will receive a new Point Pleasant logo t-shirt. Free refreshments and cake will be provided, and attendees will have the opportunity to win local gift cards and other prizes.
The event will showcase interactive stations featuring 360-degree video with a virtual reality headset, branded social and digital media, and new Point Pleasant promotional products. Prize drawings, face painting, a photo booth and more will be available for all attendees.
MEDIA: Point Pleasant and BrandJRNY representatives will be available for media interviews before and after the brand launch remarks. They will share information about the community-branding process and how WVU faculty and students have been working with Point Pleasant community members to create effective communication plans and creative materials for long-term brand management. Representatives will also touch on the potential economic, tourism and the educational effects of this project.
The initiative is funded by the American Electric Power Foundation.
