WHAT: Events focusing on the debut of Ken Burns’ “Country Music” documentary

WHEN and WHERE: Tuesday, April 16

·11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Media Innovation Center, Strategic Communication Hub, Evansdale Crossing, 62 Morrill Way, Morgantown

·7:30 p.m., Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre, Creative Arts Center, 1436 Evansdale Drive, Morgantown 

NOTES: Members of the media should RSVP for the morning event to Emily Corio, Emily.corio@mail.wvu.edu. Hear what it takes to produce a major documentary and get a special preview of the program that broadcasts nationally on PBS in September.

The evening event is part of a national 30-day promotional tour crisscrossing the U.S. The film’s writer Dayton Duncan and producer Julie Dunfey will showcase an exclusive selection of excerpts from the film specific to West Virginia’s rich country music heritage. Kathy Mattea and Charlie McCoy, both of whom are featured in the documentary, will perform live with the Mountain Stage Band.
