West Virginia University fans will gather in gold and blue to cheer on the Mountaineers as they close the 2024 football season during the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Frisco, Texas.
Alongside hundreds of graduates, West Virginia University will present two outstanding alumni and an educator with Presidential Honorary Degrees while also recognizing two leading faculty members during Commencement ceremonies, Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Coliseum.
Record-breaking donor support is empowering West Virginia University to advance education, health care and prosperity near and far. In a presentation to the WVU Board of Governors during its regular meeting Friday (Nov. 22), WVU Foundation President and CEO Cindi Roth detailed the impact of new gifts and pledges totaling more than $282 million in fiscal year 2024.
West Virginia University has named Haley Bockius, Laasya Chennuru, Mary G. Roush, Christopher J. Smith and Dakota Swiger the 2024 Mountaineers of Distinction, a Mountaineer Week tradition that recognizes exemplary academic achievement and extracurricular involvement.

The 2024 recipients are Steve Conrad, Most Loyal West Virginian; Scott Branham, Most Loyal Alumni Mountaineer; Rebecca Fint-Clark, Most Loyal Faculty/Professional Staff; and Donna Staggs, Most Loyal Staff Mountaineer.
West Virginia University celebrates its rich Appalachian roots each year with a week of activities that showcases music, food, and arts and crafts from the Appalachian region. Mountaineer Week, now in its 77th year, begins Monday (Nov. 11) and continues through Sunday, Nov. 17.

Over 1,000 K-12 students vied for victory at the 35th annual Pumpkin Drop hosted by the West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. This year’s competition — held Friday (Oct. 25) — included 242 teams from 58 schools across West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
A celebration of time-honored traditions and new Homecoming experiences culminated at West Virginia University Saturday (Oct. 19) with the crowning of Megan Frappier and Hannah Warden as the 2024 Homecoming Royalty.
