Tackling four areas of concern for girls and young women in West Virginia— diversity/inclusion, health, STEM and education— West Virginia University and the Girl Scouts of the Black Diamond Council hosted “State of the Girl,” an event centered around the landmark study of the same name conducted by the Girl Scouts of the USA.

West Virginia University Hospitality and Tourism Management students in the College of Business and Economics had the unique opportunity to experience real-world training in hotel management while helping the West Virginia Tourism Office find ways to increase business in state parks. The students analyzed revenue trends of lodging facilities in state parks across West Virginia to determine how best to regulate proper occupancy rates and pricing regimes.

WVU to partner with Code.org to advance computer science in K-12

Continuing its commitment to excellence in science, technology, engineering and math education, the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in STEM Education announced today (Dec. 8) its selection as a regional partner of Code.org, a national network working to ensure that all students K-12 have the opportunity to learn computer science.

$83.7 billion energy investment boosts state, WVU on world stage

Ltd., one of the world’s largest energy companies and a long-time research and development partner of West Virginia University, announced an agreement that will bring $83.7 billion to the state.
