WVU program embraces holistic approach to fulfill high school students’ aspirations

Upward Bound, a federally funded TRIO program at West Virginia University, is working to individualize the student experience and to support the University’s service mission by helping those at the high school level prepare for college. For the first time, the program is embedded at Preston High School in Kingwood this academic year.

New program launches to recruit teachers to West Virginia

The West Virginia Public Education Collaborative, in partnership with West Virginia University and the West Virginia Department of Education, is working to make the Mountain State a destination for new teachers.

In West Virginia’s hills and hollows, its larger cities along interstates and smaller communities on country roads, at ground levels and from broader 365-degree views, West Virginia University students, faculty and staff are working each day in service to the Mountain State.

WVU receives $1M grant to help students ‘cross the finish line’

West Virginia University students will benefit from a $1 million gift courtesy of the Maier Foundation, a West Virginia-based nonprofit organization focused on furthering higher education in the Mountain State, that is aimed at reducing the number of students who leave campus before graduation.

Gilmer named president of WVU Potomac State College

Chris Gilmer, a first-generation college graduate who became a leader in higher education, published author and advocate for underserved students, will transition from interim to campus president of West Virginia University Potomac State College.
