$2M estate gift boosts student support for WVU Chambers College, Athletics

The anonymous donation will establish a new fund at West Virginia University that aids academic support, experiential learning and/or career readiness resources for students and faculty development at the WVU John Chambers College of Business and Economics along with the Garrett Ford Academic Excellence Fund for student-athletes.

Call it a slam dunk: West Virginia University is scoring new opportunities for students to pursue and complete their degrees with a $5 million gift from Steve Ballmer, chairman of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, and his wife, Connie, honoring late Mountaineer great Jerry West. The announcement coincides with Jerry West Day, a celebration of West’s memory and legacy at the WVU men’s basketball game Saturday (Jan. 18) versus Iowa State.

'The Pat McAfee Show' to highlight Rich Rodriguez introductory press conference at WVU

West Virginia University Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker will introduce Rich Rodriguez, the 36th Mountaineer head football coach, at 1:30 p.m. Friday (Dec. 13) at the Coliseum. Starting at noon, the event, which is open to the public, will feature “The Pat McAfee Show,” hosted by former WVU kicker/punter and ESPN GameDay analyst Pat McAfee.

Rich Rodriguez named West Virginia’s 36th football coach

Rodriguez, winner of 190 games and 12 outright or shared conference or division championships, will be the 36th head football coach at West Virginia University, Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced Thursday (Dec. 12).

WVU makes leadership change in football program

West Virginia University Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced Sunday (Dec. 1) he had made a change in the leadership for the Mountaineer Football program, with Neal Brown’s tenure concluding after six seasons and a 37-35 overall record.
