A former student leader with 40 years of industry experience and his philanthropist wife, along with a long-time food service employee, an administrator dedicated to international education, and a devoted financial aid administrator with 33 years of service will be honored for their outstanding contributions to West Virginia University.

Parkersburg native Jerry Wood has been tapped to lead the West Virginia University Office of Veterans Affairs, effective this month. As part of a recently announced reorganization, the this office now reports to the Office of the Provost, which conducted a national search for Wood’s position.

To accommodate additional testing of recent software updates, the West Virginia University Personal Rapid Transit will be closed for passenger service beginning Friday (Aug. 31) at 10:15 p.m. The PRT is closed on Sundays and will remain closed on Monday (Sept. 3) in observance of Labor Day. PRT passenger service will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday (Sept. 4) at 6:30 a.m.
