New endowment to help expand academic scholarship opportunities at WVU

A gift of $25,000 from Melinda and John Hale to West Virginia University’s College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, will provide financial aid to CPASS students, with a preference for students from Mineral County and transfer students from Potomac State College.

WVU engineering alumnus flies into the eye of Hurricane Irma

West Virginia University alumnus Nick Underwood has been flying into the eye of Hurricane Irma, the most powerful Atlantic Ocean hurricane in recorded history, to collect critical data about the storm and where it’s headed. Underwood, a native of Beaver, graduated from WVU in 2014 with a degree in aerospace engineering. He has spent the last year working with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s Aircraft Operations Center.

WVU's IMC graduate program awards first scholarships from new fund

Two West Virginia University Reed College of Media online graduate students have been awarded scholarships from the College's newly-established General IMC Scholarship Fund. The competitive scholarship, established in 2017 by College of Media alumni and employees Catherine and Chad Mezera, is for students enrolled in the College’s Integrated Marketing Communications and Data Marketing Communications graduate programs.

Barnettes donate Monongalia County family farm to WVU

Longtime supporters of West Virginia University, alumni Curtis H. “Hank” Barnette and his wife, Joanne Harner Barnette, are donating to the University the Harner-Barnette farm which includes 10 acres of land outside Morgantown, a house and related buildings on the property with furnishings, and farm implements.
