WVU School of Medicine researchers find that retirement and healthy lifestyle don’t always correlate

Dana King, M.D., professor and chair of the West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Department of Family Medicine led the study in cooperation with Jun Xiang, M.S., health data analyst in the Department of Family Medicine, to examine whether retired late-middle-aged adults have differing rates of adherence to healthy lifestyle and metabolic risk factors, including diet, exercise, smoking, weight, glucose levels, blood pressure, and cholesterol, compared with same-aged adults who are not yet retired.

'Hidden Figures’ inspires duo to create tribute to Johnson at WVU

As part of its National Engineers Week events, West Virginia University's Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources unveiled a plaque in honor of Katherine Johnson on Feb. 21. Students Savannah Lusk and Morgan King were instrumental in the effort to honor Johnson, the first woman to desegregate WVU's graduate school.

West Virginia University’s search for the 65th Mountaineer Mascot has been narrowed to four candidates. All four finalists are West Virginia natives, and will don the buckskins and carry the musket to lead the crowd into cheers during the men's basketball game with Kansas State Saturday (Feb. 11).
