Alumni, faculty member to be inducted into national engineering honorary

Two West Virginia University alumni and one faculty member will be formally inducted into Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honorary. The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources TBP chapter is hosting the organization’s 39th annual district four conference, which runs from Friday, April 7-Sunday, April 9.

Humphrey, Smith elected WVU Student Government Association leaders

The campaign for West Virginia University student body president and vice president ended Friday evening as the Student Government Association Judicial Board announced Blake Humphrey and Shannon Smith as president and vice president, respectively, for the 2017-18 academic year.

Marsh to deliver Van Liere keynote

Dr. Clay Marsh will speak on the topic “Wellness – The Intersection of Science and Purpose” at 1 p.m. Friday, March 24 in the Patteson Auditorium at WVU’s Health Sciences Center. It is open to the public, and is the highlight of WVU’s annual two-day Van Liere Research Days celebration.

WVU student team wins third place, $2,000 in national pitch contest

Three students proved last week that West Virginia University is a national leader in entrepreneurship and innovation at the 4th Annual PitchTexas Competition, hosted by the University of Texas McCombs School of Business and Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship.

WVU awarded $25,000 grant to promote innovations in surgical education

West Virginia University was awarded a $25,000 grant in 2014 by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery to create a project that would promote innovations in surgical education for orthopaedic surgery residents. That project has recently finished, and the research team has found an effective method of teaching residents how to perform a diagnostic knee arthroscopy.
