WVU alumni create six new scholarships for business school students

New scholarships will spark innovative thinking and enable students at the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics to dive into new experiences through their courses, internships, study abroad programs, student organizations and beyond.

Donors contribute $100K to WVU Foundation’s 2017 Pride Travel Fund

More than 800 donors contributed over $100,000 to the West Virginia University’s Pride Travel Fund this fall in support of the Mountaineer Marching Band. The annual campaign was established to help defray the costs of travel for the band, including transportation, hotels and food for the more than 350 members and staff.

Tickets for West Virginia's appearance in the 2017 Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the Historic Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas, are now on sale on a priority basis.

WVU accepts Heart of Dallas Bowl invite

The West Virginia Mountaineers and Utah Utes have officially accepted invitations to play in the 2017 Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl. The game will be played Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. ET and the contest will be televised by ESPN.

Matching, participation gift challenges part of Wednesday’s inaugural WVU Day of Giving

Donors to West Virginia University’s inaugural Day of Giving on Wednesday (Nov. 8) could see their investment grow immediately thanks to other generous University supporters. Several alumni and friends have issued challenge and participation matches for the 24-hour online fundraising effort designed to raise dollars for the University’s greatest priorities and opportunities, as well as scholarships and unrestricted funds at both the University and unit specific level.

Verl and Sandra Purdy make $5 million gift commitment to WVU

West Virginia University graduate Verl O. Purdy attributes much of his success to the education and opportunities he received as a student at WVU in the 1960s. The Poca native, who founded the largest agricultural data analysis and marketing company in the world, and his wife, Sandra, are now giving back to WVU with a $5 million donation, announced Friday (Nov. 3).

Spend an evening with the ’Space Gal’ at WVU

Emily Calandrelli, a West Virginia University alumna who is currently the Emmy-nominated host of FOX’s Xploration Outer Space and chief correspondent on Netflix’s show, “Bill Nye Saves the World,” returns to campus as a scholar-in-residence Nov. 6-7. She will also share her passion for space exploration in an “Evening with the Space Gal,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday (Nov. 6), in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. This event is open to the public.
