New scholarship awarded to incoming WVU student

An incoming freshman who found his career path while taking care of his grandfather is the first recipient of the Jim and Gerry Cox Endowed Academic Scholarship. Bradley Bordelon, who moved to West Virginia from Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina and a recent Nicholas County High School graduate, is a direct admit in West Virginia University’s nursing program; he plans to minor in Spanish.

Order of Vandalia inducts six

West Virginia University Order of Vandalia inducted new members Saturday (June 2), adding six West Virginians to a distinguished list of recipients including Sen. Jay Rockefeller, Sen. Robert C. Byrd, Hazel Ruby McQuain, Sen. Jennings Randolph, John Chambers, James "Buck" Harless and Jack Fleming.

2018 WVU Sports Hall of Fame class revealed

The 2018 class includes Kate Bulger (women's basketball), Jon Capon (men's soccer), Avon Cobourne (football), Mike Gansey (men's basketball), Tom Keane (football), Larry Krutko (football), Eleanor Lamb (administration), Steve Slaton (football), Bev Fry Plocki (gymnastics), Pat White (football) and Web Wright (rifle). Induction ceremonies will take place Sept. 22, prior to the West Virginia-Kansas State football game.

WVU, Revature partnership to provide on-campus coding training

West Virginia University and Revature, a leading technology talent development company, have announced a strategic partnership to provide WVU and other college graduates with hands-on technology training that will help prepare them to fill a demand for highly-skilled software programmers.

Training 'ninja' analysts

Karen and Mike Carver, West Virginia University sociology and anthropology alumni and owners of Ninja Analytics, gave $25,000 to the Department of Sociology and Anthropology to support student research.

Gee urges WVU Class of 2018 to make choices that serve their purpose in life

This class of more than 4,450 is likely a generation prepared for enacting “vital change,” having earned a University record 10 Fulbright Scholarships, two Boren Scholarships, an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and a Truman Scholarship. Eight students were named to the Order of Augusta, WVU’s most prestigious student honor.
