Mountaineers invited to Camping World Bowl fan events in Orlando

Fans following the West Virginia University football team to the Camping World Bowl in Orlando are encouraged to join fellow Mountaineers at fan events planned Thursday, Dec. 27, and Friday, Dec. 28.

Thursday, December 27

Alumni, friends and fans are invited to participate in the Camping World Bowl Big 12 Pep Rally at Pointe Orlando (9101 International Dr., Orlando), at 4 p.m. The rally will include appearances by the Pride of West Virginia, WVU Cheerleaders and Mountaineer Mascot. Admission is free.

Following the pep rally, fans are invited to join the WVU Alumni Association and Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG for a Mountaineer Meet and Greet at 6 p.m. at Miller’s Ale House (8963 International Dr., Orlando). Get together with fellow Mountaineers at Orlando’s gold and blue headquarters for bowl games on flat screen televisions, food and drink specials. The Meet and Greet will feature a live broadcast, from 7-9 p.m., of the WVU IMG Bowl Special Radio Show, presented by Gabe’s and hosted by Mountaineer play-by-play announcer Tony Caridi with insight from the rest of the Mountaineer Sports Network crew.

Friday, Dec. 28

Game day kicks off at 11 a.m. with the Camping World Bowl Parade of Bands (Winter Park Ave., Winter Park) The Pride of West Virginia will perform in the parade on picturesque Park Ave. Get there early to reserve your spot among sidewalk cafes and brick lined streets. General admission to this event is free.

Following the parade, fans are invited to head to the Camping World Bowl FanFest at Tinker Field at Camping World Stadium (1 Citrus Bowl Pl., Orlando) starting at 1:15 p.m. Be a part of the bowl’s pre-game fan experience featuring live entertainment, face painters and interactive displays. A wide selection of food and beverage options will be available for purchase from local vendors. Admission is free.

The Official Mountaineer Tailgate Tent Party hosted by the WVU Alumni Association, Central Florida Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association and Mountaineer Athletic Club, will take place at Tinker Field adjacent to the Camping World Bowl FanFest. The event includes a meal of BBQ chicken and pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, brownies and assorted cookies, soft drinks, a beer garden, premium wine bar, disc jockey, face painter, appearances by the Pride of West Virginia, WVU Cheerleaders, Mountaineer Mascot and a WVU giveaway.  The tent will open at 1:30 p.m.  The cost is $60 per adult and $40 per child. The Mountaineers face off against the Syracuse Orange at Camping World Stadium on Friday, Dec. 28. The game will be televised on ESPN. Kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m. EST. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at http://wvugame.com.
