WVU updates, recaps Morgantown Return to Campus information

West Virginia University released updated Return to Campus information today (Aug. 11). A Return to Campus Conversation will also be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13 where senior administrators will continue to answer questions and address concerns.

WVU provides COVID-19 weekly ‘trends’ report

A week after launching its public dashboard to track and compile COVID-19 information collected during testing across the West Virginia University System, a total of 67 positive results have been recorded out of 11,604 tests resulted between July 21-Aug. 9. Those positive test results include 63 students and 4 faculty/staff.

Glover to serve as Mountaineer mascot through 2021-22

The Mountaineer Advisory Council announced today (Aug. 10) that Colson Glover and Brooke Ashby, will serve as the West Virginia University Mountaineer mascot and alternate Mascot, respectively, through 2021-22, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dedicated workspaces improve quality of life during COVID-19 pandemic

When the novel coronavirus prompted universities to switch from in-person to online classes last spring, both students and professors had to adopt a new workspace: the home. Tina Antill Keener—a researcher with the WVU School of Nursing—explored how that switch affected nursing students and faculty. She found that having a dedicated workspace in the home was tied to better quality of life and more resilience.

Gee announces phased return to Morgantown campus in letter to WVU community

West Virginia University students will have a phased return to the Morgantown campus that includes a later class start date (Aug. 26) and hybrid or online delivery for upper division undergraduate courses, President Gordon Gee announced in a letter to the WVU community today (July 27).
