WVU, Marshall, WVSOM presidents thank Justice, legislators for "freedom" bill

West Virginia University President Gordon Gee, Marshall University President Jerome Gilbert and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine Michael Adelman today (April 25) issued a joint statement following Gov. Jim Justice's signing of HB 2815, granting greater authority to the schools' governing boards.

West Virginia University Board of Governors authorizes term sheet with KVC Health Systems

Today, the WVU Board of Governors authorized a term sheet for a lease-purchase agreement with KVC Health Systems for facilities on the Montgomery Campus. This agreement is an intent to lease, which details the obligations related to maintenance, payments and purchase. KVC intends to use the facilities to operate a specialized career college for youth aging out of foster care, a move that WVU President Gordon Gee called “a tremendous plus for the campus and community.”

WVU student awarded fellowship to work for veterans

A West Virginia University student who wants to assist veterans who may have been wrongly discharged from service has been named a 2017 Newman Civic Fellow by the Campus Compact, a national non-profit organization that advances the public purpose of higher education to educate students for civic and social responsibility.

Youths to celebrate WVU’s 150th at WVU Day at the Legislature

Hundreds of West Virginia 4-H’ers and West Virginia University Extension Service representatives will travel to the State Capitol on Tuesday, March 28 to explore opportunities at West Virginia University, meet with legislators and celebrate WVU’s 150th birthday at WVU Day at the Legislature.
