In the latest edition of Gee Mail, President Gordon Gee acknowledges the dedication and resilience of the Class of 2022 as graduates prepare for their next journeys.

The month of April is a time for accolades and acknowledging accomplishments ahead of spring commencement on college campuses, thus was the focus of much of Friday’s, April 22, meeting of the West Virginia University’s Board of Governors.

A celebration of nearly 4,500 West Virginia University graduates begins next week with the inaugural GradFest and culminates in commencement ceremonies planned May 13-15.

A laudable spirit of perseverance that has sustained Mountaineers for generations was underscored in West Virginia University President Gordon Gee’s address to the August and December 2021 graduates during two commencement ceremonies today (Dec. 18) at the WVU Coliseum.

A sea of decorated mortarboards and the sounds of cheers from family and friends and tapping of the University mace will once again fill the West Virginia University Coliseum as December and August graduates gather on Saturday, Dec.18, for two commencement ceremonies, marking a return to Mountaineer tradition.

Following a year of missed milestones, celebrations and traditions, West Virginia University’s first in-person commencement ceremony since December 2019 ushered in a renewed sense of optimism for the nearly 4,500 graduates who walked across the stage to receive their diplomas in four ceremonies this weekend (May 15-16).

As nearly 4,500 students gear up for the first in-person Commencement at WVU in nearly two years, President Gordon Gee could not help but to soak in the atmosphere beforehand at Milan Puskar Stadium in this edition of Gee Mail.

West Virginia University will resume administration of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine based on the recent recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration.

Members of the West Virginia University Board of Governors met in person at the Erickson Alumni Center for the first time since the pandemic began more than a year ago.

West Virginia University graduates will return to in-person commencement ceremonies this May; and although some restrictions will be in place because of COVID-19, the celebrations will be no less memorable for the 4,499 who walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. Graduates from May, August and December 2020 are also eligible to participate in the exercises.
