A West Virginia University alumna who delved into the unseemly world of Indonesian slavery and brought home a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service and a Grammy winning Mountain State native whose music has been covered by legends of the industry and sung at presidential inaugurations top the ranks of speakers at the University’s commencement ceremonies this year. WVU will hold commencement exercises at all 15 colleges and schools over a three-day period May 12-14.

West Virginia University Board of Governors authorizes term sheet with KVC Health Systems

Today, the WVU Board of Governors authorized a term sheet for a lease-purchase agreement with KVC Health Systems for facilities on the Montgomery Campus. This agreement is an intent to lease, which details the obligations related to maintenance, payments and purchase. KVC intends to use the facilities to operate a specialized career college for youth aging out of foster care, a move that WVU President Gordon Gee called “a tremendous plus for the campus and community.”

Inaugural class of WVU biomedical engineers to present senior projects

Working in three teams, West Virginia University’s inaugural biomedical engineering class has developed an intraocular lens characterization, software that is about 90 percent accurate in diagnosing lung disease from the sound of a patient’s cough and formulated a printable ink for use in creating the next generation of flexible electrodes for brain recording and stimulation.
