Lyons names Stratford new men’s soccer coach

Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons has named Dan Stratford as the school's 10th men's soccer coach. Stratford, who played for the Mountaineers from 2004-07, and served as an assistant coach at WVU from 2011-13, returns to Morgantown after a three-year stint as the head coach at the University of Charleston.

West Virginia University will retire the playing number of all-time basketball great Rod Thorn. In a career spanning more than 50 years, Thorn has excelled as a player and as a front office executive where he became one of the game's most influential figures.

Athletics receives gift from Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust

West Virginia University Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons announced today a $10 million gift from the Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust to build an Athletics Performance Center at the WVU Coliseum Sports Complex.
