Gee announces phased return to Morgantown campus in letter to WVU community

West Virginia University students will have a phased return to the Morgantown campus that includes a later class start date (Aug. 26) and hybrid or online delivery for upper division undergraduate courses, President Gordon Gee announced in a letter to the WVU community today (July 27).

WVU Board of Governors welcomes Harris and Riggs, hears update on COVID-19 response

West Virginia University Board of Governors Chairman David Alvarez began Friday’s (July 24) special meeting by welcoming Chase Riggs, who replaces Kate Dye as the student representative, as well as Dr. Patrice Harris, who was appointed to the BOG earlier in the day by Gov. Jim Justice. Harris replaces JR Rogers with a term that expires June 30, 2024.

A documentary born from tragedy, but which inspired a national safety campaign, is now nominated for a regional Emmy. “Breathe, Nolan, Breathe” chronicles the events during and after a 2014 hazing event at an unsanctioned fraternity that led to Nolan Burch’s death, a then freshman at West Virginia University.

WVU to adopt test optional admissions due to impacts of COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the ability of many college-bound high school students to take either the ACT or the SAT, West Virginia University has joined a long list of institutions relaxing test score requirements in its admission policies.
