‘Most Loyals’ chosen for Mountaineer Week at WVU

The 2017 honorees are Dr. Ronald Wilkinson, Most Loyal West Virginian; Jon Hammock, Most Loyal Alumni Mountaineer; Mannon Gallegly, Most Loyal Faculty/Professional Staff Mountaineer; and Barbara Bodkins, Most Loyal Classified Staff Mountaineer. The group will be honored during halftime ceremonies of Saturday’s (Oct. 28) WVU-Oklahoma State football game.

Men’s basketball to host charity exhibition game

The West Virginia University men's basketball team will host a charity exhibition game, presented by Coca-Cola, against Albany inside the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross' hurricane relief efforts.

WVU researcher looks to Iceland to curb teen substance use in West Virginia

Alfgeir Kristjansson, an assistant professor in WVU’s School of Public Health, is studying data related to teen substance abuse in West Virginia. In 2016, his findings showed that at one high school in Wood County, 27 percent of students had smoked cigarettes, 41 percent had consumed alcohol and 20 percent had smoked marijuana.

2017 WVU Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer candidates named as part of Mountaineer Week, Oct. 20-29

West Virginia University has announced the finalists for Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer 2017, an award that recognizes students’ exemplary academic achievement and extracurricular involvement. A Mountaineer Week tradition, Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer will be named at the Saturday (Oct. 28) WVU football game vs. Oklahoma State at Milan Puskar Stadium.
