Gee reflects, looks to the future in final WVU State of the University address

A decade of innovation, record-breaking research, historic donor support and an unwavering commitment to meet students’ needs for today and tomorrow have positioned West Virginia University for continued strength and success in the future, according to President Gordon Gee in his final State of the University address Monday (Oct. 14).

WVU names 2024 class of Ruby Fellows

Three promising researchers pursuing doctoral degrees at West Virginia University are receiving a $34,000 stipend, a $2,000 travel grant and a tuition waiver from the Ruby Scholars Graduate Fellows Program, allowing them to continue their research at the University and to aid in their future academic endeavors.

Scholarships empower WVU students to gain experience, explore opportunities

As West Virginia’s land-grant University dedicated to serving the Mountain State, WVU provides ample scholarship support to ensure higher education remains accessible and affordable for students across the state and beyond. During the 2024 fiscal year, the Office of Financial Aid awarded over $139 million to more than 16,000 students in partnership with the WVU Foundation.

WVU shatters research expenditures record for second consecutive year

For fiscal year 2024, West Virginia University crushed its record in externally supported research expenditures with $275 million — an 82% increase from five years ago. The University’s main strength areas — astrophysics, energy, neuroscience, cancer, forensics and robotics — continue to attract more financial support from federal, state and industry sources as well as private donors.

WVU welcomes home new, returning students with Welcome Week activities

Offering a mix of activities for all West Virginia University students — new and returning — Welcome Week will run from Aug. 15-23, providing ways for students to have fun, explore their strengths, connect with others and give back to the community ahead of the start of the fall semester.
