For a second consecutive year, the West Virginia University student body will be led by Colin Street and Rozaireo Jones as Student Government Association president and vice president, respectively.

Street, a Foundation Scholar and member of the Honors College from Morgantown, is a junior pursuing a triple major in political science, environmental and energy resources management and multidisciplinary studies.

In his first year as president, Street completed work to install Mutual Aid cabinets across campus, helped triple SGA participation, and advocated for students in Board of Governors meetings and during the West Virginia legislative session. Outside of SGA, he is an intern at the WVU Center for Resilient Communities.

“Next year, we plan to establish a market supplied by West Virginia farmers to provide students with healthy and affordable groceries on campus, start a Hardesty Festival of Ideas podcast to promote internship and research opportunities on campus, and work with Roads and Grounds to create mini parks and recreation spaces across campus,” Street said.

“Ultimately, we’re excited to use our second year to fully establish SGA as a place in which any student can come to get their problems solved on campus.”

Jones, a junior from Fairmont, is majoring in journalism with minors in history and political science.

“We want to applaud this year’s spike in voter turnout and congratulate all the candidates whose campaigns drove 1,300 University students to vote,” Jones said. “Putting yourself out there isn’t easy, so knowing that over 40 students ran to represent WVU is inspiring. Colin and I look forward to implementing our new initiatives, but also to another year representing the students of WVU. Let’s Go!”

As vice president, Jones led the effort to reestablish the Hardesty Festival of Ideas. Outside of SGA, he has served as a Presidential Student Ambassador and is a member of Cohort 4 of E Pluribus Unum’s Unum Academy.

“This time of year is always energizing,” said Thanh Le, director of Student Engagement and Leadership. “I love seeing passionate students share their ideas to help improve the student experience here at WVU. I look forward to helping them implement their ideas and create a community where all students feel like they belong.”

The election was held with in-person voting and on WVUEngage March 3-5.

The SGA consists of an elected president, vice president, 26 college senators and 12 senators at-large.

The 12 students elected to the SGA student senate are: Ava McMullen, Bobby Butterworth, Hank Poole, Andrew O’Neal, Kinslee Watkins, Ben Caltrider, Larynn Titus, Noi Steinn Alfgeirsson, Troy Andis, Thomas Sibold, Jibreel Quinones and John Honce.

The inauguration for the 2026-27 Student Government Association will take place on Sunday, April 26, in the Mountainlair Ballrooms and changing of the seats will be Wednesday, April 15.
