Three WVU alums awarded Fulbright Scholarships

Three West Virginia University alumni will teach English abroad next year after being awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, allowing them to develop cross-cultural competency, as well as skills to further their career goals.

The presence of ticks have increased in recent years, as Lyme disease cases have tripled in the U.S. since the late 1990s. A team of WVU researchers, with the aid of a $1.9 million grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is developing a vaccine that may prevent humans from contracting the tick-borne illness.

‘We Are Stronger Together’ scholarships aid students affected by COVID-19

“We Are Stronger Together,” a special fundraising initiative launched by the WVU Foundation, is providing nearly $80,000 in scholarship support for students in need. Contributions to the ongoing effort assist WVU students affected by the pandemic with tuition, room and board, and other educational expenses

WVU Board of Governors welcomes Harris and Riggs, hears update on COVID-19 response

West Virginia University Board of Governors Chairman David Alvarez began Friday’s (July 24) special meeting by welcoming Chase Riggs, who replaces Kate Dye as the student representative, as well as Dr. Patrice Harris, who was appointed to the BOG earlier in the day by Gov. Jim Justice. Harris replaces JR Rogers with a term that expires June 30, 2024.
