WVU business school named divisional champions at international supply chain competition

West Virginia University’s Global Supply Chain Management program has not be around a long time, but you would never know that from the accolades it has received in its short life. Those accolades kept right on coming this past weekend, as a student supply chain competition team from the WVU College of Business and Economics was named divisional champion of the international Supply Chain Skills Challenge on Feb. 24 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

WVU's Jutla earns prestigious NSF CAREER award

Antar Jutla, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at West Virginia University, has earned a prestigious CAREER award from the National Science Foundation for his research on how extreme events and enhanced climatic variability impact the emergence of water-borne pathogens that cause infection in humans. The award comes with nearly $500,000 in funding over a five-year period.

Cassak named 2017-2018 Benedum Distinguished Scholar in Physical Sciences and Technology

Paul Cassak, associate professor of Physics and Astronomy in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has been named West Virginia University’s 2017-2018 Benedum Distinguished Scholar in Physical Sciences and Technology. This designation is intended to recognize and reward WVU faculty who exemplify distinction in research, scholarship or creative activity.

Marsh to speak at South by Southwest Conference in Texas

WVU’s chief health leader will participate in a discussion of new ways to approach the nation’s drug crisis at the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, Texas. Clay B. Marsh, M.D., WVU vice president and executive dean for health sciences, will be one of four panelists discussing “Hacking the Opioid Epidemic: How Behavioral Science Can Help Us Combat America’s Most Pressing Health Crisis,” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. March 13 in the Austin Convention Center.
