Reflecting the dedication and diligence of the West Virginia University Police Department to keeping the campus community safe, the latest Clery Act report is now available.

From introducing middle school students to energy careers to helping experienced workers earn new credentials and offering tailored training to upskill others, the Resilient Energy Technology and Infrastructure Consortium led by West Virginia University is actively building a workforce network designed to meet the energy industry’s needs today — and anticipate the jobs it will need tomorrow.

“Propelled by Mountaineer momentum, we are galvanized, hopeful, and energized,” West Virginia University President Michael T. Benson said during his second State of the University address, delivered to the Faculty Assembly prior to the Sept. 14 Faculty Senate meeting at the WVU College of Law.

Simplifying the path to higher education for Mountain State students, West Virginia University is now offering direct admissions decisions to qualifying high school seniors in Monongalia County and Kanawha County through the newly launched WVU Express.

Building on the foundational success of West Virginia’s premier talent attraction and retention programs, West Virginia University will use $2.4 million to help recruit and retain state-licensed healthcare professionals by standing up three new programs: Ascend WV Healthcare, First Ascent Healthcare, and a new pilot program that extends beyond the current 23-county Ascend WV and First Ascent network.

With decades of experience navigating the fast-moving technology landscape, West Virginia University will welcome Kimberly Clark as its next chief information officer. Clark will officially begin her role Oct. 12.
