Legal scholars concerned about economic justice and other social issues are meeting at the West Virginia University College of Law Nov. 2-3.

The University has named Stephen Scott and Mia Antinone the 2018 Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer. A long-time Mountaineer Week tradition, the prestigious award recognizes exemplary academic achievement and extracurricular involvement. In addition to the Mr. and Ms. Mountaineer presentation, WVU’s Most Loyals were honored during halftime ceremonies of the Thursday (Oct. 25) football game.

More of West Virginia’s veterans will soon have access to free legal help from the West Virginia University College of Law. The law firm of Wooton, Davis, Hussell & Ellis, PLLC in Beckley, has pledged $60,000 over the next two years to fund a full-time fellow in the college’s Veterans Advocacy Law Clinic.

In the presence of family, friends, and new colleagues, 53 recent WVU Law graduates and others were sworn in October 10 to the state bar at the WV Supreme Court of Appeals and the federal bar for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Matthew Titolo, a professor at the West Virginia University College of Law, has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Scholar grant for the spring 2019 semester. As a Fulbright Senior Scholar, Titolo will teach and study at the University de La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain, focusing on international commercial law and European Union law.

The Innocence Project law clinic at the West Virginia University College of Law has helped free a client from prison after proving he was convicted of a crime he did not commit.
