WVU names third woman as Mountaineer Mascot

Inspired by the passion and resilience of West Virginia University’s first female Mountaineer Mascot, Natalie Tennant, Mary G. Roush will become the third female in nine decades to don the buckskins and carry the rifle as the 68th Mountaineer Mascot.

2022 Annual Gold-Blue Spring Game set

West Virginia University will hold its annual Gold-Blue Spring Football Game, presented by Encova, on Saturday, April 23, at 1 p.m., at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Former WVU Director of Athletics Leland Byrd passes away

Dr. Leland E. ("Hammer") Byrd, 94, a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died at his West Virginia home on Jan. 19, 2022, surrounded by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth, and other loved ones. Leland was known to his family and friends as a true gentleman, who lived his life with class, integrity, generosity and kindness.
