West Virginia University and the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative, now in partnership with WVU Extension, are working to broaden the reach of Remake Learning Days, the state’s premier hands-on learning festival.
Scheduled for May 17-25, submissions are currently being sought for what will be multi-day series of events designed to spark curiosity and engage learners in grades pre-K through 12 and their families.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 10th year of Remake Learning Days in West Virginia,” said Donna Hoylman Peduto, executive director of the WVPEC, which is housed in the WVU Office of the Provost.
“Being part of this international effort helps to shine a light on the exceptional educators and innovative community members we have in the Mountain State. Our new collaboration with WVU Extension and their robust network will significantly grow the number of students and families who can engage in this celebration of learning and creativity.”
The theme for this year’s festival is “Explore, Work and Learn Together.” Educators and community organizations from the WVU community and around the state are invited participate and host events. The deadline for event submissions is Friday, March 7.
“Our schools, libraries, museums, local businesses, nonprofits and community groups are all encouraged to submit event ideas,” Peduto said. “The participation from across the state to provide these opportunities inspires young learners who will grow up to make a positive impact in the Mountain State and beyond its borders.”
Mini grants are also available to support organizations looking to host an event. Grant submissions will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 28, via the WVPEC website at this link.
State activities will run parallel to other Remake Learning Days festivals happening in 15 regions across the United States, plus three international locations in Uruguay, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Most events are free to youth and families.
Remake Learning Days is funded by The Grable Foundation, led by Remake Learning and supported by festival partners Common Sense Media, the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, Learning Heroes and ParentPowered along with 16 lead regional organizations.
