Statement from WVU Director of Athletics Shane Lyons

"The announcement by the Big 12 to cancel the spring competition season is certainly disappointing but also is a necessity. We must take all precautions to ensure the health and safety of the league's Universities, student-athletes and communities. All team activities have also been suspended until March 29 and then will be re-evaluated by the Big 12. The events of the past week have brought much sadness to our student-athletes, coaches and fans, but we must do our part to keep everyone safe."

Big 12 statement on athletic activities

All conference and non-conference competitions are canceled through the end of the academic year, including spring sports that compete beyond the academic year.

March 29 Mountain Stage performance at the WVU Creative Arts Center has been canceled

The Mountain Stage performance scheduled for March 29, at the WVU Creative Arts Center has been canceled due to the suspension of in-person classes and events on the WVU campus. All ticketholders will automatically be refunded at the point of purchase. Questions regarding refunds should be directed to 304-293-SHOW (7469).

WVU Athletics events suspended through March 22

West Virginia University Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President Shane Lyons announced today that the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will suspend all upcoming athletic events through March 22.

Big 12 implements limited access to tournament games

After careful consideration and consulting with medical officials, other conferences, the NCAA and local officials, the Big 12 Conference announced that after tonight's men's first round games, all remaining Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's and Women's Basketball Championship games will be played with only family, friends, media and essential staff permitted in the arenas. The WVU men’s basketball team takes on Oklahoma Thursday, March 12.

Riggs, Bragg elected WVU Student Government Association leaders

The campaign for West Virginia University Student Government Association leadership ended Wednesday evening (March 11) as the SGA Judicial Court announced Chase Riggs and Jaron Bragg as president and vice president, respectively, for the 2020-21 academic year.

WVU to temporarily suspend in-person classes after spring break, move to online model

West Virginia University will temporarily suspend in-person classes the week following spring break then offer online class instruction or other alternative learning options beginning March 30 as it continues to monitor the threat of novel coronavirus. All other online-only classes will continue as originally scheduled.
