WVU Extension Service partners with the Polaris Foundation to improve ATV safety

It’s a common sight in much of West Virginia — ATVs and UTVs rushing up secondary roads, riding along forest trails and running across the hills. Given their popularity, the West Virginia University Extension Service is teaming up with the Polaris Foundation to improve safe riding practices and help reduce injuries and accidents. This initiative is of importance as West Virginia leads the nation in the number of ATV- and UTV-related deaths per capita with rates eight times the national average.

Dana Brooks to retire after 41 years in the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences; Jack Watson to serve as interim dean

Dean Dana Brooks will retire from the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences June 30, 2019, after more than four decades as a passionate Mountaineer committed to promoting diversity and student success at West Virginia University. Upon Brooks’ retirement, professor of Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology and interim associate dean Jack Watson will serve as interim dean of the College.

West Virginia Statewide Business Plan Competition gives young entrepreneurial talent a platform to make innovative ideas a reality

Collegiate entrepreneurs have lived and learned through an academic year full of new and valuable experiences in the 13th annual West Virginia Statewide Collegiate Business Plan Competition. The competition’s concluding event will be held April 12, a day full of opportunities ranging from making final presentations that could result in one of three grand prizes worth $10,000 to words of encouragement about their potential in the global business landscape.

Zinn claims prestigious honor

The awards keep piling up for Deputy Director of Athletics Keli Zinn, and this one is perhaps her most coveted of all. Zinn was recognized last week, along with 39 others in this year's Forty Under 40 class of leaders in sports, representing a broad cross section of the sports business field.

WVU staff, faculty encouraged to support Gold Blue & You Campus Campaign

West Virginia University faculty and staff can invest in the University through the WVU Foundation’s Gold Blue & You Campus Campaign which kicks off today (April 8). WVU employees can give to programs or funds across the University they feel passionately about, including scholarship funds, specific departments/units, academic programs and special faculty/student support initiatives.
