WVU supply chain students tackle state food desert

A group of West Virginia University students is addressing the growing problem of “food deserts” in the state, as the combination of a declining rural population and below average income have left many West Virginians living significant distances from supermarkets and reliable food sources. That project, as it turns out, may not only help with West Virginia’s food access problem, but may also address the problem on a global scale.

James Lewis and Aldo Romero from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, will lead a team from WVU, University of Southern California and Kitware, Inc. to develop new machine-learning tools for advancing chemical and materials science discoveries on the nation’s future high-speed computing platforms.

Mountaineers, Orange to meet in Orlando for Camping World Bowl

The No. 16 West Virginia Mountaineers and the 20th-ranked Syracuse Orange will play in the 2018 Camping World Bowl. The game will kick off at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28 at Camping World Stadium and will be televised nationally by ESPN. PrimeSport, in partnership with the WVU Alumni Association, Mountaineer Athletic Club and WVU Athletic Department are offering a Mountaineer Travel Package.
