WVU issues statement on death of student Friday

West Virginia University issued the following statement upon learning of the death of a student today (April 13):

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Colton Hodge, 22, of Falls Church, Virginia. Colton was a third-year student majoring in sport and exercise psychology. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Colton’s family and friends,” said Corey Farris, associate vice president and dean of students. 

Counseling services are being provided through the Carruth Center. The Office of Student Life has been in touch with Colton’s family to offer support and comfort. 

A bell-ringing service in his honor will be announced at an appropriate time.
